Defeating ABS – Suggestions?

Question:

Riored,   You really hosed it on this one, after all Saddam is from Iraq not Iran.   And as I proudly server with elements of 2nd AD (forward) during Shield/Storm it saddens me that the public has such a short attention span. Maybe we were not uncomfortable enough for you, or was it the lack of deaths? I spent more hours than I care to remember in MOPP4 and I did lose one friend, maybe next time we should bump up the casualty count, so civilians who have never had to defend freedom will appreciate world events more. After making the mistake the first time (which I ignored as a typo, you reinforce such ignorance, hmmm just as I was willing to give AOL’ers a chance. Oh well – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Yeah; I haven’t heard anything about a US-Iranian war, or anyone else having a war with Iran at the moment.  Being a member of the USAF, it would seem that someone would have told me about it. I’m happy for you; you’re right.  No war, but he is sending troops and raising a big stink about something that should have been taken care of the 1st time. I’m in the Navy; so what’s your point.  This is a diversion that Bill is using to raise his public support.  Period.  He doesn’t care at all what Saddam does, because if he did; all of this would have happened a long time ago.   My point was that dillweed bringing up AOL is just another similar diversion; he just wants sympathy for his weak argument because I’m on AOL.  If I posted from another server would it really make a difference.  No. riored97cobra#301

<snip I mean, the ABS kicked in, if I didn’t have ABS, I would have skidded due to how hard I held the pedal (the brakes in the LS1 f-bodies are STRONG). the 98 Camaro you can squeeze the brakes at illegal speeds and lock them up with not a great deal of leg work.   I had the stereo blazing at 60, deer jumps out, I kick it hard, couldn’t listen for sounds of lockup if I wanted to; got thrown forward due to the deceleration (even though I was holding the wheel with both hands) – the ABS came on instantly and stayed on throughout; but the car stopped HARD. Cool… :) Did you shoot the deer afterwards? after all, Darwin’s natural selections should have eliminated this gene because it can’t determine something was coming up… FAST! :)

Naah, missed the deer; but got so close I could smell’is breath and see his bloodshot eyes!! Of course, the slightest malfunction in what is (with ABS) a more complex process, could spell even worse troubles, I had a REALLY bad experience the first time I ever had to brake fast in my ’stang, since the left front tire locked and none of the others did (mechanical failure) Then MODULATE the brake… I’m driving a non-ABS car now, with some practice, I can do about as good as car with ABS… but I still prefer ABS incase that I’m too stressed to do the fine adjusting of the brake pedal pressure…

Oh, I was braking well with my old car non abs; but in this situation of just kicking it I would have hit the deer. Oh, if my ABS fails I’m in for severe pain.  The stang’s braking system (except maybe the Cobra’s) is built around having ABS as an option.  On the Z28 it’s ABS standard, the car would just be wrong with it disabled; but as it was set up for definite ABS, I think it works great. Well, the ABS system for the ‘Stang is made and designed by Bosch… I’d think that system would be fairly good…

The Z28 I believe has the next bosch system.  However, I meant that the Mustang’s mechanical system for the braking was designed into the car to work without ABS.  I think the Z28 mechanicals (for which ABS is standard) is made such that you couldn’t brake properly without ABS. . . . .

In all truth I was responding to noired. As for condemning AOL immediately, then even you as a user have to be willing to admit, that if you truly are well read, knowledgeable about the world, computer literate and capable, then I submit; You Sir, are in the extemely small minority of AOL users! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -See, now here’s where you lose me.  If you were responding to the original poster, then you’re way out of line.  If you were responding to riored, then why drag ME into it?  Have I ever demonstrated ignorance, or failed to use logic when arguing a point?  When have I ever posted a simple "Me too"?  I choose to take offense at your blanket dismissal of all things AOL, and your seeming belief that using infinet.com bestows intellectual superiority is, frankly, misplaced.   To my memory, yours is the first post I’ve seen from Infinet…  Perhaps I should now form an opinion of ALL Infinet users based solely upon you….   dwight ‘93 LX 5.0 standard disks up front, drums in back

Well, the ABS system for the ‘Stang is made and designed by Bosch… I’d think that system would be fairly good… Designed and built in Germany by the best.  I wish I could’ve studied eng over there.  We’ll probably have at least 10 redneck posts claiming the engineers at Bosch don’t know squat though. "Bosch don’t know squat."

Yes, Bosch don’t know about squat… they know about whole bunch of automotive related technology, but it seems that they didn’t study enough on the "squat" subject… :) Actually, they made the only spark plugs that wouldn;t foul on my severely worn-out 79 Capri.  (Worn out .030" over)
