Hi there!   I used Mr. G’s rechromed plastic service to replate parts on the inside of my 66 Fairlane GTA in 1987.  The results were fantastic!  It was a bit expensive, but if your parts are not available any other way, this is the way to go.  One problem is that some of the fine detail is lost in the plating process.  The heater control labels that were impressed in the plastic from the factory were lost in the replating process.   Mr. G’s sells liquid masking material if you need to repaint any silver or black portions of the part.  Be careful with the paint choice, though.  Many paints eat plastic.  Test in a inconspicuous spot first. Modeling paint (Testor’s) works about the best of any. Good Luck! Gerard.

This may not be exactly what you wanted but I just touched up the rear window trim on my 1986 Saab 900S using Plasti-Kote Bumper Chrome spray paint (#615). It cost only $5 at the local auto part shop (for a 12oz can). From 20 feet away you cant tell the difference between the touch up areas and the real chrome. The only thing is that you should make sure the suface is as smooth as is humanly possible. I didnt sand some areas well enough and it really shows the closer you get. The smooth areas look like a reasonably chrome-like finish but the rough areas look too much like silver paint. Despite that I am pleased with the results and plan to do the same to the front window some time this weekend. Steve Glynn 1986 Saab 900S 1968 Mustang
